On April 20, 2023, the 8th Council Meeting of China Elevator Association was held in Tianjin, 91 directors or delegates entrusted by the directors attended the meeting.

       The meeting listened to and considered and adopted the "Work Report of the Eighth Council Meeting of China Elevator Association" (hereinafter referred to as "Work Report") made by President Li Shoulin on behalf of the Council. The Work Report analyzed the situation of the elevator industry in the past two years and the current situation. 2021 national elevator production will be 1.21 million units, up 14% compared with 2020; export 86,000 units. 2022 national elevator production will be 1.1 million units, down 9.1% compared with 2021; export 88,000 units. 2022, the demand for home (villa) elevator market will grow rapidly, with an annual demand of 60,000 units. In 2022, the annual demand reaches 60,000 units, plus the demand for farmers' self-built houses, etc. The annual demand is estimated to reach 100,000 units; the amount of elevator renewal and renovation increases substantially, with a growth rate of more than 20%. However, the demand for newly installed elevators has shrunk due to the downturn in the real estate industry. The debt crisis of a number of real estate enterprises has caused large losses to some enterprises. 2023, the new crown pneumonia epidemic control downgrade, with the gradual recovery of the domestic economy and the launch of the real estate stimulus policy, the trend of a significant decline in the demand for newly installed elevators market is expected to be eased; the amount of old elevator renewal and renovation has increased significantly, and the work of adding elevators to old buildings continues to advance, which can make up for part of the loss of newly installed elevators market demand space. However, there is still a great uncertainty whether the total market demand growth can turn positive. Currently, the elevator industry is becoming increasingly competitive, and enterprises are facing a more complex situation in terms of survival and development.
       The Work Report reviewed the work after the Council Meeting in 2021. In accordance with the documents and circulars of the Party organizations of the central and state organs of industry associations and chambers of commerce, the secretariat of the Association actively participated in the Party history study and education activities, studied, publicized and implemented the spirit of the 20th Party Congress; organized the preparation of the "History of Chinese Industry - Other Industrial Volumes", "Elevator Editorial"; and enhanced the journal of the Association - "China Elevator". -China Elevator" magazine, and promote the integration of paper magazine and emerging media; organize the preparation of national vocational skills standard "Elevator Assembly and Commissioning Worker"; and organize a symposium with China Construction News on the technical research of retrofitting elevators in old neighborhoods. The work of the Association's branches also carried out corresponding work and activities in their respective professional fields.
The Work Report also put forward the work plan for the next year. These include: (1) completing the preparatory work for the renewal of the Board of Directors; (2) establishing new branches of the Association according to the development needs of the industry; (3) actively participating in the discussion of industry regulatory policies and regulations; (4) continuing to improve the level of environment, health and safety in the industry; (5) further improving the Association's group standard technical system; (6) continuing to hold national vocational skills competitions in the elevator industry; (7) promoting the industry to take Green low-carbon development road, etc.

       The meeting pointed out that in 2023, the association should implement the spirit of the 20th Party Congress, adhere to the theme of high-quality development and the main line of supply-side structural reform, comprehensively implement the new development concept, accelerate the construction of a new development pattern, and lead the elevator industry on the road to more efficient, fairer, more sustainable and safer development. To take advantage of China's position as the world's largest elevator market and the formation of a complete industrial chain and supply chain with excellent technology and economy, we should firmly promote the structural reform on the supply side. We should use innovative methods and new development models, do a solid job of improving product quality and safety, make every effort to promote the green and digital transformation of the industry, overcome the serious tendency of involution, comprehensively improve the level of economic efficiency of the industry, and accelerate the transformation of the development mode.
