Icing and frost pose a significant threat to the operation of general-purpose load outdoor observation elevators. The industry recommends that outdoor sightseeing elevators are not suitable for installation in locations where icing and frost occur frequently. In places where icing and frost occur infrequently, outdoor sightseeing elevators should be taken out of service in the event of icing and frost. Windy weather may be the second reason why people have to reduce the operating speed of outdoor sightseeing elevators or stop the elevator operation. Places with frequent high winds are not suitable for installing outdoor sightseeing elevators unless the elevator shaft is located in a location that is completely sheltered from the wind on the exterior of the building. It is a common practice to provide a transparent curtain wall for the bottom of the shaft in harmony with the elevator equipment décor, which is part of the elevator civil construction work.
